GPs in Training
Our practice is approved to train fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice. Our GP registrar will have had 2-4 years of experience as a qualified hospital doctor working in various specialities. They consult patients on their own, under the mentorship of our trainers, Dr Jouanny and Dr Plunkett. Occasionally we ask permission to video a consultation. You will always be asked in advance and are given the option not to take part, and this will not affect your care in any way. No recording will be taken without your consent and the camera will be switched off on request. These videos are used only for educational purposes with the doctor doing the consultation and are destroyed after use.
Dr Prescott and Dr Kinney are currently the GP registrars at the practice.
Medical Students
We are accredited to train Queens University and Ulster University medical students. You may be asked to allow the medical student to consult with you, under supervision from a GP. Please do your best in helping us train these doctors of the future as they navigate their way round qualifying as a doctor. It is in their best interest for them to see and provide care for as many patients with varying ailments, as possible. We very much appreciate your co-operation in fulfilling their training needs, however if you prefer the student not to be present during your consultation, please advise the receptionist or the GP.
